Het kunstwerk Een Mens Van Water is ontworpen voor het hoofdkantoor van de Amsterdamse Waterleiding maatschappij. Het waterkunstwerk bestaat uit een grote sculptuur buiten bij de entree van het gebouw en een aantal grote foto's van medewerkers die verspreid over de drie gangen achter de glazen gevel zijn op gehangen.
Buiten op het bordes bij de entree staat een grote menssculptuur van meer dan 8 meter hoog die geheel is opgebouwd uit 150 cirkels van koperen waterleiding buis.
De 150 koperen cirkels met een gezamenlijke lengte van bijna 700 meter vormen de de contourlijn van de mensfiguur en symboliseren het 150 jarig bestaan van de Amsterdamse waterleiding maatschappij.
Langs de menssculptuur stroomt water naar beneden dat van boven uit het beeld komt. In de winter als het vriest zal het langs stromende water veranderen in ijs.
Op de 9 levensgrote fotopanelen die binnen in het gebouw hangen staan medewerkers van het waterbedrijf afgebeeld die doorweekt zijn met water- de materie waarmee ze werken. Nog nadruipend van het water staan ze in hun werkkleding op de foto geven ze de verschillende facetten van de waterleiding maatschappij en eigen gezicht.

Aan de Arlandaweg spiegelt het glanzende silhouet van de koperkleurige reus, ‘‘Een mens van water’ in de glazen gevel van het gebouw. Deze monumentale zeven meter hoge fontein, van 150 koperen ringen, is gemaakt door het kunstenaarsduo Maree Blok en Bas Lugthart. Het werd in 2003 onthuld door wethouder W. Hester May ter gelegenheid van de opening van het hoofdkantoor van het Waterleidingbedrijf Amsterdam. Inmiddels is hier de woningbouwvereniging Eigen Haard gevestigd.
