www.amsterdam.nl:
' Lost city ' is made to wegzakkend command for a ' work of art ' on the border of water and uitzichttheuvel along the railway from the meadow with a view from above. A command that also grew out of the westerpark Visual Arts / Overbrakerpolders structure plan by Vafa Weavers from 1985.
Schole (born 1953) was inspired by the contrast between city and nature in which the rural part of the park was. The current Overbrakerpolder with native vegetation-the Water in the 1980s still existed from natuurtuin-small meadows.
Nature has also he want to give emphasis and let him take its course, although the cane is pruned regularly. The objects refer to urban elements but there are no imitations of.
The work of art refers to excavations in an ancient city or a half in the water failed old barge. But also refers to the turret of the vessel that from this place to look is just above the railway embankment. The sculpture evokes the tension of a lost civilization and overgrowth by nature.

www.buitenbeeldinbeeld.nl:
given the title the work depicts the remnants of a long-abandoned city which is slowly sinking in the peat soil. Only the Tower of a modern church building still holds courageous stand. Not good enough will undoubtedly should be the conclusion, Amsterdam is a city built on stilts.

Amsterdam Images Book:
the idea of Schole was yesterday-in contrast to the vertical beacon of Michiel Schierbeek at the entrance to the westerpark – create an image with a predominantly horizontal operation and made up of various parts. To tackle the theme inspired, made Schole photos of construction pits, foundations and a sinking boat surrounded by waste. The final result is partially on land and partly in the water.
