Much critical artwork

The most striking feature of the art in Hong Kong is the critical attitude: 15% (in stead of 2% in general) of the sculpures in the public space is reflecting critical on political or social issues.

Strong forms but less creative

You can find strong forms (9% in stead of 25% in general) and explicit (11%) art, so the sculptures are “readable”, the subject is recognizable. This doesn’t mean the are creative (only 9% in stead of 50%) or revelatory.

Romantic art

Many statues (31%) are in a romantic style while only two scultpures are found created before 1900. The numbers of contemporary (21%) and modern (48%) art are comparable with the numbers in other great cities.
