«Il titolo 'Casamata'» prosegue «unisce il termine 'casa' con il singolare di 'mati', matti in dialetto veneziano. 'Casamata', dunque, la casa come simbolo di memorie, di sofferenza vissuta, una sorta di omaggio a tutti coloro che in questo luogo hanno vissuto nel dolore, nella malattia e nell’isolamento dal mondo. Più che sulla follia ho lavorato sul tema della memoria e sul suo simulacro. Ed è proprio la sospensione, l’abbandono del corpo, l’assenza che nelle forme vuote ne richiama il calore, ne evoca le abitudini, gli atteggiamenti, a far riaffiorare la vita, a fermarla per sempre nella materica sostanza del bronzo».
