Born in 1933 in Pisa, Franco Adami received a solid classical training: Instituto Leonardo of Pisa, Scuola d'Arte to Cascina, Fine Arts in Florence.
In 1957 he arrived in Paris. Since then, his life is divided between the two countries and cities of heart, Pietrasanta and Paris. For ten years he worked wood, refines his technique and his style says. Two meetings will definitely steer its course: the sculptor Zadkine Ozzip crossed the Grande Chaumiere, then Collamarini sculptor, then a professor at the Beaux Arts in Paris, with whom he befriends and that will influence his vision of sculpture. From 1970, he opted for noble materials that will become his signature: the stone and bronze. Housed since 1971 in Pietrasanta, marble became his favorite material for its perennial nature. The white Carrara marble, green marble from the Alps, the rare black Belgian marble, onyx, porphyry not found offer him a field of expression in perfect harmony with its large format creations. Bronze is used for monumental works and smaller dimensions, it also carries precious prints money.
The choice of material is not by chance: everything is matter of balance and harmony between form, color and theme. As he says himself:"form is available at infinity, there is still so much to do ...".
From 1987, several stays in Black Africa are to him new sources of inspiration, complementing its pantheon. From this will be born totems and masks that marked his thought.
