The object used is quite philosophical as the clock symbolizes the passage of time, and is easily put in touch with life. The sculpture is placed in front of the station clock which refers, in one of the most stressful cities (Paris), to the saying"metro, work, sleep." The clock symbolizes time, whether won or lost, it accumulates in this work.
Arman:"I have not discovered the principle of accumulation, it was he who discovered me. The company maintains its need for security by instinctive accumulations, which include watching one perceives, shop windows, trash cans and landfills ... Witness to this company, I felt concerned by the pseudo-biological cycle production-consumption-destruction. for the longest time, my anxiety was to note the progressive flooding of our world by objects discarded".

Arman, born Armand Fernandez November 17, 1928 in Nice and died in New York October 22, 2005, is a French-American artist, painter, sculptor and artist, known for his"accumulations". It was one of the first to use directly, as pictorial material, manufactured goods, which accounted for him the many and infinite extensions of the hand of the man who undergo a continuous cycle of production, consumption, destruction.
Between 1980 and 1999, the range of works and techniques widens. Arman declines and multiplies the various enforcement procedures. In the late 1990s, the work is radicalized into a series of actions related to the object (Accumulations in relationship, Cascades, Combo Sandwiches). It shows a renewed interest in painting (for example in the series of"Starry Nights" and"emersions").
1985 in New York, a monumental tower made of bronze cellos cuts, Rostropovich's Tower, the same year are in place to Saint-Lazare station in Paris an accumulation clocks all the time and baggage Luggage life.

www.landrucimetieres.fr:
Arman was a versatile artist: painter, artist, sculptor. Passionate collector, he became interested in the status of the object and the report that modern societies have with it. Thus he became known for its fascinating accumulations. These public spaces have invested nearly a hundred cities in the world, such as Long Term Parking in the former Fondation Cartier in Jouy-en-Josas, a tower of 19.50 meters consists of superimposed real car each on the other, in stone. Parisians know both of his most emblematic works, located on both sides of the Saint-Lazare train station: the accumulation of clocks (time of all) and the luggage (Life Storage), which have become part of our urban landscape and still are often used rendezvous point.

www.paris-en-photos.fr:
Arman is known for his"accumulations" of artistic structures made of glued objects, built, stacked together. I have also already shown his work"Time for all", which stands in front of the Saint-Lazare station. He has also been the subject of an exhibition last year in Paris.
Of course this Venus arts inspired by the famous Milo (his nickname"Had a-arms" and who lives in the Louvre), but it consists of musical instruments and pieces of frames tables. The statue is made of bronze, and was inaugurated in 1998. It recognizes several pieces of cello, you see? Looks like Picasso, completely deconstructed and yet so recognizable!
