The lion standing at the left side of the monumental entrance of the Arsenale in Venice is an Ancient Greek sculpture, originally at the Piraeus in Athens, brought to Venice by Francesco Morosini, who conquered the Peloponnesus.
The second lion standing at the right side of the monumental entrance of the Arsenale in Venice is an Ancient Greek sculpture dating back to the 6th century BC, from Delos (the head was added in late 17th century). It was brought to Venice by Francesco Morosini, who conquered Athens and the Peloponnesus in 1694.
