I cycle past this sculp¬ture every morn¬ing on my way to work but have never had time to pho¬to¬graph it until today. It’s a Peking opera mask, which is made out of three sep¬a¬rate struc¬tures that do not con-nect with each other. It is only when you view the sculp¬ture from the front that the ele¬ments com¬bine to form the face of the mask. The iconic sculp¬ture sits out¬side one of the big office build¬ings on Chang’an Avenue, (Long Peace Street) which the major arte¬r¬ial road that crosses Bei¬jing from East to West.
