You may have wondered, as you passed by, about this work of abstract art installed in the heart of the Saint-Leu district, near its church. It is a sculpture created by tienne Martin in 1961. La Demeure n IV, also called Demeure Lanleff, is part of a series entitled Les Demeures, started in 1954. This is inspired by a druidic construction, located in the Breton village of Lanleff. To create this work, tienne Martin used several materials such as wood, rope and plaster. Made of bronze, the sculpture weighs 3.5 tonnes and measures 3.5 meters high. We can see plant forms there, perhaps even human ones. Deposited by the National Contemporary Art Fund, Residence No. IV was installed on March 17, 1966 in front of the Maison de la Culture, place L on Gontier. During the redevelopment of this place, it was moved in 1993 to the square in front of the Saint-Leu church. It loses its base in this transport.
