collective memory
I see two curved shapes that touch each other in the middle. This shape makes me think of the hat (bicorne) of Napoleon, even though this is probably not intended with this artwork because there was no direct relationship between Napoleon and the history of Brasil.
This shape is in the collective memory of a European (like me); the events which are associated with this shape are so important that they immediately appear. This shape evokes memories and meanings. With the bicorne I think of Napoleon. Napoleon is iconic and will not give space to another image.
Unfortunately I cannot open myself for another image but the bicorne, while I look at Monumento ao Migrant Nordestino by Marcos Cartum. This is a pitty because I think that this artwork has nothing to do with Napoleon.

The Monumeto It exists in homage to the many Northeastern migrants to Sào Paulo, responsible for great labor in the place.
The monument is shaped like a typical hat worn by people from the Northeast.
They were looking for job opportunities, to escape hunger and drought and the low living conditions offered until then in Northeastern cities.
