Do König Vassilakis was born in Germany and initially studied sculpture in Tubingen and then Lausanne. Her work is strongly influenced by the mythology and the culture of Ancient Greece and Rome. Her long-standing partnership with the Greek artist Takis, who she met in 1968 at the Venice Biennale, led to extensive travel, returning to Greece in 1974.
