Janez Lenassi ( Opatija , July 3, 1927 - Piran , January 26, 2008 ) was a Slovenian sculptor.
Lenassi was born in the Croatian part of Istria . He followed from 1947 to 1951 a sculpture course at the art academy (the Akademija za likovno umetnost in oblikovanja - ALUO) of Ljubljana , among others at Peter Loboda. From 1957 to 1959 he was a drawing teacher at a primary school in Ljubljana.
Lenassi started his career as a figurative sculptor, influenced by Slovenian sculptors such as Boris Kalin, but continued to work in a more abstract way.
In 1982, Lenassi was appointed as senior lecturer at the art academy in Ljubljana . From 1985 to 1989 he was the chairman of the Yugoslavian artists 'association and from 1987 to 1989 chairman of the Slovenian artists' association. From 1986 to 1996 he was regularly a teacher at the international summer academy of Salzburg .
